Chicago has requested permission to interview Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.

The Chicago Bears have requested permission to interview Bruce Arians, offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts, for the team's vacant head coach position

Arians, 60, was previously OC for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. He has 38 years of coaching experience at both the professional and collegiate levels.

Arians took over the Colts this season after head coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia. Despite coming off a 2-14 season in 2011, and working in a rookie quarterback, Arians led Indianapolis to an 11-5 record and a postseason berth.

Because of his success this year, Arians is in high demand. The San Diego Chargers have also shown interest in him and more are expected to come calling.

Arians is the fourth offensive coordinator the Bears will soon interview. The others are Mike McCoy (Denver Broncos), Mike Sullivan (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Tom Clements (Green Bay Packers) and Pete Carmichael Jr. (New Orleans Saints). GM Phil Emery will also interview a pair of special tams coordinators: Keith Armstrong (Atlanta Falcons) and Joe DeCamillis (Dallas Cowboys).
