Although the ride for Tim Couch in Jacksonville may have been a short one, Timmy can and should still hold his head up high.
Reason #1- Heather Kozar-Couch. Tim Couch is still married to Heather, who is a smoking hot former Playboy Playmate. Kozar is only 31 years old and she continues to look great, which many of us in Jacksonville had "first-hand" evidence of during the Jaguars training camp. Tim's better half is certainly not with him only because of his money and athletic fame, being that he hasn't played in the league since 2004.
Reason #2- Tim's adoring fans. Tim Couch has tons of fans all over the country, much more than a now-journeyman quarterback should have. Couch is considered a folk hero in his native Kentucky, where people followed his every move while he was in training camp despite not playing in the great state for longer than nine years.
Tim also has a huge following in the Cleveland area among many Browns fans. Most fans would turn on a guy who was the former number one overall pick and had the limited amount of success that he had. We found pretty much the opposite in Cleveland. Many of the intelligent Browns fans realized that Couch had no offensive line talent, and pretty much no other surrounding talent, and supported Couch almost unconditionally.
Reason #3- Signing Bonus. Tim Couch was the first overall pick in the 1999 draft and his NFL earnings are in the eight-figure range. Couch and his Playmate wife have enough money where they have no financial issues, and neither will likely ever have to work again.
In summation, Tim Couch threw just four passes for the Jaguars, completing two of them for 11 yards. It was evident last week after watching Couch's preseason performance that he no longer has what it takes to play in this league. His career may have gone a completely different direction if the Browns didn't make him the first overall pick, and surrounded him with virtually no talent. Perhaps Couch would still be in the league, and maybe he would've been to a Pro Bowl? We'll never know, but we appreciate the effort Tim gave while in Jacksonville, and we wish him well in the future.
