Flying Under the Radar: Dwayne Bowe
Dwayne Bowe was considered to be one of the second-tier wide receivers in April's draft, behind the likes of Calvin Johnson and Ted Ginn Jr. After missing part of training camp with a contract holdout, Bowe has started off the season quickly, and has been as productive as any receiver, rookie or otherwise. Bowe has been improving each week, and has caught touchdown passes in three consecutive games, including game-winning catches against the Vikings and Chargers.
When the Jaguars take the field in Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, there will be little argument that Dwayne Bowe will be the most talented receiver on the football field. In a Kansas City passing game with very few weapons, Bowe has caught 18 passes for 299 yards and three touchdowns, easily the best numbers on the team. Bowe helped the Chiefs turn around their season as they were facing a third consecutive loss to start the year, when he caught what proved to be the game-winning touchdown pass in the fourth quarter against Minnesota. Bowe then followed that performance by catching eight passes for 164 yards in the Chiefs upset of heavily favored San Diego.
Through the first month of his career, Bowe is dominating the receivers chosen ahead of him in the draft, as Calvin Johnson has caught 10 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns, and Ginn has caught just one pass for 15 yards on the season. If the Jaguars don't have Dwayne Bowe on their radar, they may suffer the same fate as the Chargers did last Sunday.
