The Jaguars continued their busy spending as they signed former San Diego Chargers cornerback Drayton Florence, as originally reported by Michael Wright. Florence is a 6'0", 195 lb. corner who is a solid tackler, and a playmaker. Florence has 10 career interceptions while starting just 43 games over his career.

Florence will likely occupy the nickel corner position, and represents a major upgrade over Terry Cousin, who has been the Jaguars nickel corner for the last two seasons. We’re not sure where this leaves Scott Starks, the former third-round pick by the Jaguars in 2005. Starks has been groomed to take over the nickel position, but is said to lack some coverage ability, despite having great speed.

We will have a complete scouting report on the Jaguars latest acquisition shortly.
