Marcus Stroud Gone to Bills

The Jaguars have granted troubled defensive tackle Marcus Stroud his wish, as he was dealt to the Buffalo Bills for their third and fifth-round picks in this April's draft.

Stroud is a former three-time Pro Bowler for the Jaguars that has been injured for most of the last two seasons with various knee and ankle injuries that caused him to undergo microfracture surgery. Along with the injuries, Stroud was suspended for four games last season for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.

With the move, the Jaguars receive not only the Bills two second-day picks, but also gain some cap space, as Stroud was due approximately a $5 million salary in 2008. Stroud has missed 14 of the team's last 30 games, and will turn 30 years old in June. The Jaguars are now left with John Henderson, Tony McDaniel, Derek Landri, and Rob Meier at defensive tackle currently under contract.

At first glance, this trade seems like a steal for the Jaguars. They got rid of a bad contract and a player who has a serious injury concern, who will turn 30 prior to training camp. Buffalo receives help at defensive tackle, and if Stroud is healthy, he could have enough of a chip on his shoulder to be an impact player again, but the health is the major question mark.
