Quentin Groves Even Persistent With Love

Give Jaguars' second-round pick Quentin Groves credit for persistence. When Groves was a freshman at Auburn in 2003, he was in a computer lab when he first noticed an attractive Trinidad-born sprinter on the Auburn track team. One day he wheeled his chair over to her, introduced himself and tried to impress her by "Google-ing" his name and then showing his football statistics. Did it work?

Treska Baptiste wasn't buying any of the pitch, however.

"I wasn't playing," said Baptiste who was in town last week with her now-husband, Groves. "If you ignore (men in Trinidad) once or twice, they'll go on to their merry way. (But) not Q."

Groves remained persistent and eventually the two began dating and just before the start of Groves' junior season, they secretly got married in a courthouse in Auburn. They plan to do a formal wedding this summer in Trinidad.

"It's just like football," Groves said. "It takes a lot to get a sack. I got to keep grinding, keep grinding. That's what I had to do (in pursuit of his wife). I saw something I wanted and I went after it."
