Ryan Hoag (Kosovac/JagNation)
If the 6’2”, 200 lb. wide receiver has one of those faces that you swear you’ve seen before, it’s because you probably have. His name is Ryan Hoag, and he’s been a journeyman in an unorthodox type of way.
Ryan Hoag is perhaps most famous not for his football exploits, but for his role in the ABC television series, “The Bachelorette,” in which he was one of the 25 male contestants pining for the affection of DeAnna Pappas. Hoag became mildly famous for his strong religious beliefs.
“Christianity is first and foremost in my life,” said Hoag. “I don’t drink, I don’t use cuss words, I don’t have sex. I’m not going to do that until I’m married.”

With Hoag being near the bottom of the Jaguars prospected depth chart, assuming he actually gets signed, he will have to blend in to a locker room with many players who likely do not share his belief structure.
As for football, Hoag attended Division III Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota after transferring from Wake Forest University. Hoag was an all-MIAC First-team performer as a junior, and won Gustavus Adolphus Athlete of the Year as a senior. Hoag has solid hands and good speed, as he was a Division III track star in college.
This is not Hoag’s first trip to Jacksonville as he played against the Jaguars as a member of the Washington Redskins in the 2007 preseason. Ironically, Hoag caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from former Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell.
The dedicated Christian has been in the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Washington Redskins organizations, as well as the Berlin Thunder of the now defunct NFL Europe, and Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.
Hoag has certainly made his way around, but not in the biblical sense.
Ryan will be wearing #13 at training camp.
