Saturday PM Jaguars Minicamp Recap

The Jaguars finished their minicamp in the Saturday afternoon heat in front of an estimated attendance of 2000 at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium practice fields.

Jack Del Rio’s team followed up a lethargic morning session with a slightly higher intensity, as the offense appeared to be a little crisper despite battling the smoldering conditions.

Two players that stood out for the Jaguars were wide receivers Mike Walker and Troy Williamson. Walker, who didn’t practice in either of the two morning sessions reeled in several long passes by David Garrard, and routinely was able to find himself open against the Jaguars secondary. Troy Williamson had the biggest single highlight of the afternoon session, as he ran a crossing route in which he plucked a pass out of the air with one hand despite being blanketed by a defender.

Running backs Montell Owens and D.D. Terry showed good running skills and caught the bell well out of the backfield.

Defensive players that seemed to stand out were safeties Jamaal Fudge and Chad Nkang, who were around the football, defensive ends James Wyche, Derrick Harvey, and Jeremy Mincey, who displayed good pressure, and Justin Durant.

A few players who didn’t practice were Rashean Mathis, Brian Smith, Matt Jones, Chauncey Washington, and George Wrighster.
