The Jacksonville Jaguars scouts headed east to check out some ACC Pro Day action. Find out where they went and what players they saw.

The Jaguars scouts traveled to Raleigh, NC last week to check out the N.C. State Pro Day. Pack Pride writer James Henderson was there and had this report.

Brown Ready For Draft Day

Tailback Andre Brown will probably be the first NC State player selected in this year's draft, and he performed well today. Measuring in at 6-foot and 228 pounds, Brown didn't run the 40-yard dash as he was timed as low as 4.44 unofficially at the NFL combine. However, he did participate in the position drills, the L-cone (7.01), and shuttle (4.17).

As expected, Brown showed very good hands catching the ball out of the backfield and reportedly impressed with his footwork and agility.

Brown is being represent by agent Hadley Engelhard of Enter-Sports Management which is based out of Atlanta. Other clients of Enter-Sport Management include former Wolfpack standouts John McCargo, LeRoy Harris, and DeMario Pressley.

Other athletes from surrounding smaller colleges were also on hand in hopes of being taken in the 2009 NFL Draft, but the majority of the players working out were NC State seniors.

The players began workouts in the Murphy Center and after taking measurements they did reps on the bench (225 pounds) and the vertical jump. Then headed out to the practice fields around noon to do the 40-yard dash, cone drills, and position workouts.

The two NC State players invited to the combine, tailback Andre Brown and tight end Anthony Hill, both chose to take the majority of their combine numbers.

The 40-yard dash was conducted on the grass practice fields with the players running in cleats. Each NFL team kept their own results so all times listed below are unofficial.

One of the most impressive athletes was Wolfpack kicker Bradley Pierson. Checking in at 5-foot-9.5 and 161 pounds, Pierson recorded an unofficial 4.44 in the 40-yard dash with a 35.5 inch vertical jump. Both were tops among NC State athletes. He also benched 225 pounds eight times.

Another player who turned heads was defensive tackle Antoine Holmes. At 6-foot-2 and 289 pounds, Holmes unofficially recorded a 4.87 40 on grass, vertically jumped 27.5 inches and benched 225 pounds 32 times.

Converted offensive lineman John Bedics also performed well. Bedics, who spent the majority of his career as a defensive tackle before moving to offensive guard, measured in at 6-foot-3.7 and 303 pounds. He unofficially recorded a 5.19 40 and a 25-inch vertical jump. Bedics totaled 34 reps of 225 pounds, the top mark on the bench. That would have been the second-most among offensive linemen if Bedics had recorded the total at this year's NFL combine.

Cornerback Jeremy Gray probably didn't run as well as he had hoped. Gray has good size for a corner at 6-foot-1.7 and 186 pounds, but he posted an unofficial 4.83 in the 40-yard dash. He did record a 32-inch vertical jump and 12 reps of 225 pounds.

Andre Brown has raised his stock quite a bit since the end of the season and may be a first-day pick. Although he seems like a perfect compliment to Maurice Jones-Drew, he may not be around when it’s the Jags turn to pick in round three. Tight end Anthony Hill is an intriguing prospect as he has great size and solid hands. He is projected as a late-round pick.
