Miller-Time for Jaguars

Zach Miller (Nati Harnik/AP)

The Jaguars used the seventh selection in the sixth-round (#180 overall) to pick Nebraska-Omaha tight end Zach Miller. You may recognize the name, but probably not the player. Zach Miller is a 6'3", 236 lb. prospect who has flown under the radar during the last few months.

We first heard of this Zach Miller last week when the Jaguars had him in for a visit. At just 236 lbs., Miller figures to be more of a receiving type of tight end rather than a blocker, and played some quarterback in college..

This is what we know about him:

- Miller played in the Valero Catcus Bowl game back in January, an all-star game which features Divison II prospects. In that game, Miller caught five passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

- Miller was as much of a rushing threat as anything, as he finished second on his team with 1,061 yards and had 18 rushing touchdowns.

- Miller threw for 1,508 yards and 11 touchdowns while completing 64 percent of his passes last season and led the Mavericks with 2,569 yards of total offense and was named the MIAA's offensive player of the week three times in 2008. Miller left the University as the school's all-time leading scorer with 306 points and 50 touchdowns, second all-time with 7,218 yards of offense.

- Miller is anywhere between 6'3" and 6'5", depending on who you talk to.

- He is no relation to Raiders tight end Zach Miller, but his parents names are Buzz and Ramona, and he has two sisters, Ashley and Cassie.
