With Tyler Thigpen likely out of reach, the Jaguars will now turn their attention to another team with plenty of quarterback depth in order to solidify their own depth behind David Garrard.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a minor move at quarterback over the weekend, as they waived second-year signal caller Paul Smith and re-signed undrafted rookie Todd Boeckman. The move was made because Smith showed a complete inability to lead his team and be efficient, and he simply doesn't have the arm to make all the required throws.

Earlier last week, the Jaguars attempted to trade for Kansas City Chiefs backup Tyler Thigpen, an option that the team will likely not have any longer. Some NFL insiders have indicated that Kansas City Chiefs back-up quarterback Tyler Thigpen is now off the market, with starter Matt Cassel having suffered an MCL and ankle sprain, keeping him out for up to a month.

With a Thigpen trade looking like it's dead, another possible deal has appeared. Reports are now coming out that with Brett Favre's performance on Monday Night Football against the Houston Texans, that the Minnesota Vikings are now dangling back-up quarterback Tarvaris Jackson out there. Jackson, like Thigpen, is still a very young and raw quarterback with tremendous upside. Do not be shocked to see the Jacksonville Jaguars' name connected with Jackson in the next week or so. Jacksonville is looking to bolster their quarterback position as a whole. Not only are the Jaguars looking to upgrade the back-up position, but they are also looking for someone who can threaten David Garrard's hold, if you want to call it that, on the starting position, and someone who could possibly develop into a future starting quarterback.

The Vikings now have four quarterbacks on their roster in Brett Favre, Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels, and John David Booty. It is expected that Tarvaris Jackson will be traded, or else the Vikings could carry four quarterbacks on their roster. While that notion is highly unlikely, the Vikings do not want to risk losing John David Booty on the waiver wire. Coincidentally enough, that is how the Minnesota Vikings lost Tyler Thigpen to the Kansas City Chiefs.
