Biography:
How Acquired: Taken with the ninth overall selection in the 2003 draft by the Vikings, the year the Vikings made headlines after a botched trade attempt with the Ravens fell through and the clock ran out on the Vikings, allowing two other teams to jump in front of them – even though the Vikings had their sights set on Williams all along.

Injury History: Missed two games in 2005 with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Future Contract Status

Career Stats: FoxSports.com Player Page

2007: Named first-team Associated Press All-Pro for the second straight season and third overall. Joined teammate Pat Williams as the starting defensive tackles for the NFC in the Pro Bowl. As a key member of the Vikings’ top-ranked run defense, had 50 tackles, including eight for losses, 33 QB hurries, two interceptions (both for touchdowns), six passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Tied a Vikings record with his fourth defensive touchdown (two FRs, two INTs).

2006: Was named to his second Pro Bowl as a starter, recording 73 tackles (42 solo), five sacks, nine tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries (including one for a touchdown) and seven passes defensed. Was named first-team All-Pro by Associated Press. Scored the second touchdown of his career when he fell on a fumble by quarterback Seneca Wallace vs. Seattle Oct. 22. Had 10 tackles in a game twice – Oct. 1 vs. Buffalo and Nov. 12 vs. Green Bay.

2005: Started all 14 games he played in, finishing the season with 42 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble. After having back-to-back seasons with double-digit sacks, his 2005 sack total was viewed as a disappointment.

2004: Named first-team Associated Press All-Pro and earned his first Pro Bowl honor. Named NFC Defensive Player of the Week against Jacksonville, a game in which he scored a touchdown on a 77-yard fumble recovery, the third-longest in Vikings history and the longest by a lineman. Led all NFL defensive tackles with 11.5 sacks, which made it the second straight season he led the team. Made his second career interception in the season finale against Washington. His 22 sacks in the first two seasons are a Vikings record. All this he did while playing through a knee injury for much of the season.

2003: Started the season at left defensive end but was moved inside for the final four games, where he seemed to excel even more. Ended with 10.5 sacks, trailing only Terrell Suggs’ 12 among NFL rookies. Named NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month for December. Set a Vikings rookie record with three sacks of Arizona’s Josh McCown in the final game of the season. Only the second rookie defender in franchise history to start all 16 games.

College: Had 42 career starts at Oklahoma State with 160 tackles (109 solos), 18.5 sacks for minus 141 yards, 38 tackles-for-loss of 184 yards, 14 pass deflections and four fumble recoveries. All-Big Twelve Conference first-team pick by the Associated Press and the league’s coaches as a defensive tackle.
