Mike Peterson Rejuvenated

Middle linebacker Mike Peterson begins his 10th NFL season this fall, his sixth with the Jaguars. But Peterson is acting like a rookie at the team's OTAs after finishing the last two seasons on injured reserve. Prior to those years when he was limited to a total of 15 games, Peterson had started all 16 games in six of the previous seven seasons.

All of which has made him as excited about the start of a new season as he's ever been.

"Whenever you don't finish the season the way you wanted to finish it, you are more excited to get going," Peterson said. "The closer we get to the season, the more intense I am going to get and more excited I'm going to get about the opener."

Peterson led the Jaguars in tackles his first three seasons with the club, but injuries have limited his play the last two seasons. That's caused him to want to re-establish himself as a starter.

"I have to re-establish myself every time I stop on the field in the NFL. That is my approach and that has been my approach the past nine years," he said.

"It's going to be my approach for the years to come."
